FAQs
where does the syrup come from?
The syrup comes from the maple trees. We tap the trees and collect the sap that comes out.
Is maple syrup made year round?
No, the sap can only be collected from the trees during the season when the trees are dormant, the day time temps are above 32F and are below 30F at night. That is when the sap runs for maple syrup.
How much maple sap do you need to make syrup?
Sap is mostly water so we need 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup.
Why are some syrups lighter than others?
Maple syrup is graded solely by its color. This difference in color has mostly to do with when the syrup is made. As the spring warms up, the sap coming from the trees becomes darker in color, producing a darker syrup. Corresponding to color, the darker the syrup is, the stronger its flavor.
How long does it take to make maple syrup?
Our evaporators can evaporate about 6 gallons per hour each. this means if we collect 100 gallons of sap. it would take one evaporator 16 hours straight.
